Samantha Perkin FMAAT ATT
Financial Management, Tax and Accounting,
Samantha Perkin has a history of working with many businesses over her career. She has been working in business management since she ran a family business age 19. She discovered her love of accounts and the pleasure of a manual ledger written beautifully and perfectly balanced is still one of life’s best feelings.
After taking some time to have her family of 3 children (and now 3 grandchildren) Sam returned to work in a financial role while studying for her AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) In this period she supported a variety of businesses from small local sole traders to an international franchise.
In 2006 Sam moved to Cornwall with her children to take up a full-time role at a retail shop growing it to 3 stores. In 2009, she and Gary started Zamu. She completed her ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians).
Samantha is passionate about accounts and tax and delights in explaining to clients what and how tax will work and the effect of a decision on the business in terms of both tax due and cashflow.
Enjoys working with ERDF project like SPARK which supports entrepreneurs in Cornwall to start their own business. As a facilitator and mentor Samantha is delighted to support these new start up businesses at the start of their journey.
Sam also enjoys lecturing both for degree short courses and AAT for Truro College as well as one off lectures. This year she was very proud to deliver a lecture at Accountex, the National Exhibition for Accountants at ExCel in London on behalf of ATT and CIOT.
In a voluntary capacity, Samantha serves on 2 of the governing boards for ATT in London serving on Member Services and Business Development for the ATT. She is also Treasurer & Immediate Past Chair of AAT Cornwall branch.
