A varied legal career in litigation culminated in managing an appellate court case over a number of years. Cutting the comfort ties of his legal career in late 2001 Neil embarked on a business portfolio career and took a directorship in financial services in 2002.

Responsible for the management, decision making, vision and strategy that saw the financial services company go from £200,000 turnover to more than £2 million in less than four years. Thereafter he rationalised and improved the business following the acquisitions made.

Over the last two decades whilst working as a director he has coached, mentored and advised Start Ups and SMEs, involving technology, manufacture, service, hospitality and farming.

Being passionate about Cornwall and understanding the commercial landscape Neil identified that as a county we have a creative and innovative set of businesses. There is a big difference between working in the business and having the competency to work on the business. Over the last few years he found his focus and time moving into coaching, mentoring, supporting and volunteering in business and education.

His recent masters study was based on personal development but also the realisation that supporting the first business school in Cornwall could be a catalyst for change.

Outside of his business interests Neil has a wife Jan and two daughters Hana and Emma. Both daughters take after his wife (he has to give credit for this) being creative and innovative. Hana is at Falmouth University studying Fashion Marketing and Emma studies Music. Emma is already an accomplished singer songwriter and musician.

Neil was diagnosed with primary progressive MS in 2015 so he works flexibly to manage this. Don’t be surprised if he turns up clutching a stick and walking a bit wobbly. He can always get a parking space or front row seats at sporting events! Prior to his disability he was a keen surfer for 30 years and restored vintage tractors.
